Update: Feb 1, 2004: No apology from Russ Davis, they only threw money at the problem for all our troubles. SO AVOID THESE SUCKERS WITH GREAT CAUTION!!!

I am writing in regards to a purchase my mother made on the 21st of November, 2003 at Cashwise Foods of New Ulm,Mn. She proceded to purchase a bag of your No. 1 Red ‘RDW’ Potatoes from the grocery chain. Upon bringing them home and unpacking her shopping bags she was made immediately aware of a foreign object which appeared in the forementioned bag of potatoes. This foreign object was immediately brought to her attention as it lacerated her skin of pinky finger. This object, upon further inspection, appeared to be a jack-knife, which was locked in an open position, thus piercing the side of the bag and protuding out enough to puncture her skin.

We were immediately horrified at finding such an object and scared of the possiblities of where the knife had been before creating an open flesh wound to one of your customers. How does a knife, a sharp metal object, that is extremely dangerous end up in a bag of your potatoes that goes out to consumers? Do you not have a screening/safety process in place to prevent such hazards from ever reaching the customer?

We are requesting that someone of appreciable stature in your company respond personally and promptly to this situation and what steps are being taken in regards to the future of not only us as your customers, but the whole of the consumer public that could still be in peril do to the saftey breach such an object should warrant. We have photos and eye witnesses to collabrate this and to verify that indeed that knife had been in the bag.

We hope to hear an immediate and respectful report into this situation without delay.
