E.T. ~ Entertainment ‘as the Establishment sees fit’ Tonight

1. March 2004 | Category Interests

The entertainment industry is always a vicious dog, but lately it seems to be inbreeding with itself a tad too much. Celebrity TV newsmagazines or their similar counterparts are starting to seem a tad stale and boring. How many Michael Jackson or Jessica Simpson stories can you possibly hear in one week without gorging out your own eyeballs in a fit of rage?

They seem to be endlessly fascinated with certain stars, while others get kicked to the curb. How many times have you heard of Kristen Davis of Sex & the City fame as compared to Sarah Jessica Parker or Kim Cattrel? They are all in the same show, yet these shows gush over the latter pair. Or how about such talents in the acting category as Kate Hudson or Renee Zellwegger? Who really cares what these B-list actress did for Oscar night? Give it up.

And the awards shows seem to exemptilify these people to the extreme. If you show up, you darn better be well dressed and be one of the first name only stars, otherwise, NEXT! It’s fine that there are celebrities and all, but try to mix things up a little more, give some airtime to the up and coming actors that are starting out or the ones we used to watch but have since done other things. Stop feeding upon yourself so much, you’re stale and starting to smell rotten.
